All Email is not equal. What email fits you the best?
Popmail - Simple but not very versatile not used as much anymore. Email downloads to your local computer and is rarely stored on the server.
IMAP - Better for multiple mail devices, but a little confusing and prone to some glitches when retrieving email from multiple email clients or when the server gets "confused."
Google Premium Services - Email usually stays on the server and while you can use it with Outlook and other mail clients, it is most often used via a Web browser. With a little strategizing organizations can take advantage of some great online email and applications. Google applications provide spreadsheet, word procesing, and presentation software that is nicely integrated with the Google mail service which can be configured to work with your own domain. Security levels may not fit all organizations.
Exchange - Something that Microsoft has done right. Excellent collaboration communication tools and options that allow groups to see each other's calendars, emails, or send on behalf of a person who is out of the office. Many, many options. Usually expensive to set up and maintain an Exchange server but with hosted Exchange the cost has been reduced to the point that even one person can afford to have one of the best email combinations.
